SHS Marching Band Parents Association 2003 - 2004 Scholarship Awards

General Information

Marching Band Parents Association Scholarship is offered to all graduating seniors who are members of the Secaucus High School Marching Band. The scholarship is a one-time award to be used toward the tuition at an accredited two or four year post-secondary college. Applications are available to high school seniors in the Marching Band who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the Marching Band.

Eligibility Requirements

  1. The applicant must be a SHS Marching Band member in good standing.
  2. Applicant must have been a member of the SHS Marching Band during his/her freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior high school years and who is a member in “Good Standing “ as described in the SHS Marching Band Parent Association Bylaws.
  3. The scholarship award is subject to the applicant’s acceptance at an accredited two or four-year college.
  4. The applicant must submit:
    • A short essay (500 words or less) about his/her marching band experience and how it has affected their life.
    • A copy of an acceptance letter from their post-secondary school and intended area of study.
    • The applicant must present a letter of recommendation from their Music Director, Band Director and Guidance Counselor.
    • A completed application form with a copy of their transcript is required.

General Information

  1. Students wishing to apply for a scholarship must contact their Guidance Counselor, or the SHS Scholarship Director, for the Secaucus High School Marching Band Parents Association application form
  2. All documents pertaining to the scholarship application must be returned to the Secaucus High School Guidance Office when completed
  3. All applications must be received by the Marching Band Parents Association Executive Board by May 1st of the students graduating year
  4. Scholarship Awards will be announced at the Secaucus High School Awards Assembly
  5. A congratulatory letter will be issued at the Awards Assembly
  6. Scholarship checks will be awarded to students after successfully completing their first college semester. Documentation must be presented to the SHS Marching Band Parents Association President and Executive Board
  7. The scholarship awards will be limited to the funds available in the Scholarship Fund and the amount to be distributed with the final decision of the Secaucus High School Marching Band Parents President, Executive Board and Scholarship Committee.
